IVF treatment is a planned process where the biological clock and hormonal cycle are managed in precise harmony. One of the most critical factors affecting the efficiency of the treatment is "timing."
Our physicians create a personalized calendar based on each patient's ovarian reserve and hormonal status. However, in general practice, the "menstrual cycle" is accepted as the starting point.
When Does IVF Treatment Start?
In general protocols, treatment begins on the 2nd or 3rd day of menstrual bleeding.
This period is the range where hormone levels are most suitable for ovarian stimulation. Therefore, it is important to contact our clinic when your menstrual bleeding begins.
Why is the Menstrual Period a Critical Starting Point?
How Does Timing Change in Different Protocols?
Every woman's body is different, so the start time of treatment may vary depending on the protocol applied:
⚡ Short Protocol (Common)
Injection treatment begins on the 2nd or 3rd day of the period. The process takes about 10-12 days. It is the most preferred method today.
calendar_month Long Protocol
Treatment begins with suppressive drugs on the 21st day (approximately) of the previous menstrual period. Stimulating injections are started on the 2nd-3rd day of the next period.
🌿 Natural Cycle
Drug use is minimal. The development of the egg produced by the body itself is monitored, progressing in parallel with the menstrual cycle.
⚠️ What Should Patients with Irregular Periods Do?
If you are experiencing irregular periods due to Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) or hormonal reasons, do not worry. Our physicians first evaluate your condition with hormone tests. If necessary, the cycle is initiated with "period-inducing" drugs and treatment planning is made accordingly. Having irregular periods is not an obstacle to IVF treatment; it just requires more careful planning.
Preparation Process and Psychological Support
The period before starting treatment (the time you wait for your period to arrive) is an opportunity to prepare your body. It is recommended to stay away from smoking, pay attention to sleep patterns, and start vitamin supplements such as folic acid.
